John (Jack) Donovan died quietly at home in Vero Beach, Florida on February 13, 2013.

Jack was born April 26, 1923 in Wethersfield, Connecticut to the late John J. and Margaret (Mularkey Donovan. He graduated from Wethersfield High School. He was the husband of Jean Donovan.

He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Europe and earned the rank of sergeant.

He was employed with Southern New England Telephone Co., retiring as a construction supervisor after 42 years of service.

He was active in the VFW in Wethersfield, Rocky Hill and Cromwell, serving as a post commander. He was a sports enthusiast and big fan of both professional and local high school teams. Jack had a special fondness for the friends and families of Pine Acres Swim & Tennis Club. Friends may also know Jack by one of his other nicknames: Casey, Lefty or Mickey.

Jack and Jean were snowbirds, wintering in Florida for many years, and moved there permanently in 2007.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Donovan, and his three children: Sean Donovan and his wife Christine McCoy of Florida, Mary Donovan and husband John LeJeune of Massachusetts, and Peter Donovan of California. He also leaves grandchildren, great grandchildren, two sisters in law, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jack�s sister, Catherine Haines of Wethersfield, predeceased him in 2009.

Based on the wishes of Jack and his family, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Jack�s memory.
