On March 8, 2018, June W. Fritz passed away to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at age 91. She was surrounded by her family, dear friends and clergy during her final days. She was affectionately called Mama by her children, Grammy by her grandchildren, Gigi by her great-grandchildren, and Junebug by her closest friends.

June Elizabeth was born to Minnie and William Wright in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 16, 1926. She had one sibling, William Wright, Jr., who lives in Milford, Connecticut.

At age 16, June began full time employment at the Southern New England Telephone Company in Connecticut. She demonstrated strong leadership abilities and was promoted to supervisory status. She met the love of her life, Charles Scaturro, and they were married in 1947. June and Charles had four children together. Charles was a devoted husband and soulmate. Together they devoted their lives to creating a loving, harmonious atmosphere for their children. They enjoyed dancing, singing, socializing and welcoming people into their home. June had a flair for fashion. Pink was her favorite color!

At age 48, June became a widow. Strong in character, she continued raising her children alone, offering them her love and devotion. After her retirement, she moved to Florida, where she met her second husband, Milton Martin Fritz, in church. They moved to Vero Beach and began a new chapter in the Indian River Estates Life Care community.

June dedicated her life to her loved ones. She was known for her contagious smile and compassion for others. Her family was always her priority and every member had a special place in her heart. June prayed daily for her family and desired that each “precious” one draw close to God.

June was very close to her church family, also, where she worshipped at the First Church of God. She attended weekly services, Bible studies and was a member of the Women Alive Sunday School class. Her Pastor Greg affectionately called her “Little Berean” because of her quick recall and deep love for the Word of God. For years, there was a sign in June’s room entranceway that read, “Welcome to June’s Room for Prayer or Joyous Bible Study.” During the past year, June attended church services onsite at Indian River Estates, with Chaplain Bill Mead. Even in her final days, she offered “Our Daily Bread” devotionals from a box she labeled, “FREE: Take One”. June shared her many spiritual gifts freely including intercessory prayer, mercy, and teaching. She fed the homeless, and ministered God’s love to those in jails and rehab centers. She was active into her 90’s, teaching Bible studies and praying for anyone in need.

June is survived by her brother, William, four children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Her children are Gary Charles (wife Linda), Linda Rose Cammarota (husband Domenico), Patricia Ann Winters (David), and Daniel Thomas (wife Deborah). Grandchildren include Antonio L. Cammarota, Cristina A. Smeraglino, Patricia L. Wasilewski, June Scaturro-Graves, Charles G. Winters, Michael T. Winters, Daniel F. Scaturro and Joseph C. Scaturro. Great grandchildren are Anthony D. Cammarota, Winfred Rembert, Amanda R. Cammarota, Domenic J. Cammarota, Logan A. Wasilewski, Noah R. Wasilewski, Madison J. Wasilewski, Gary C. Rembert, Camar Graves and James T. Winters (born on 3/6/18). She is pre-deceased by her husbands, Charles Scaturro and Milton M. Fritz, and grandchild, Mark Kovacs.

Two memorial services are planned for celebrating June’s life. The first is at Indian River Estates, East Auditorium, 2250 Indian Creek Boulevard W., Vero Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, March 14 at 1:30 pm. The second memorial service will be held at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford, CT, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 followed by a burial at Union Cemetery next to her beloved Charles. All friends and family are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Acts Samaritan Fund at Indian River Estates, 2250 Indian Creek Boulevard W., Vero Beach, Florida 32966. The very first time I met Grammy, she welcomed me with a big smile and open arms. She was a joyful soul and her infectious smile always made me feel happy and at peace. Grammy was the type of person who brought out the best in those around her. We will miss her, but her joy will be kept in our hearts. We are all full of love and light because of our Grammy!

My dearest mom lived a life of devotion and love for her family. She always said “everyday is a gift from God.” Truly she was a gift to all who knew her. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart. I love mom.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting June in person, but I feel as though I had. I have the honor of knowing Patty and witness the fruit of her mothers Love for Jesus and passion for his word, which she passed on to her daughter. She has left a legacy of Love, clearly! My prayers are with your family. May the Lord Comfort you with HIS Loving arms.

It has been said that a man”loves his wife the best and his mother the longest. For me it was both. Everyone of us had a special relationship with June the conveyor of the word of the Lord. She surpassed her first husband Charles by 44 years [He passed away in 1974]. I know it might sound greedy to want more days with a women who’s been with us for so long but the fact that my mother was with us for 91 years does not diminish it only magnifies the enormity of the room whose doors have quietly shut. Leading into her last week thanks to the special care from my heaven sent sisters Linda and Patty who painlessly gave comfort to her and I thank you both as should everyone. Towards the end she [June]had a brief few moments to graciously acknowledge those who visited with her. Even then she gave praise to JESUS CHRIST our Lord and Savior. She was quite a women and I am truly Blessed to have had her as my MOM. A short story from my life : More than 36 years ago my mother June asked me to attend a Billy Graham gathering at a Soccer Stadium it was their that I was asked to come up to where he was preaching and recite “the Sinners Prayer” I must say from that day I felt closer to the Lord all because of JUNE and I’m sure their are thousands of people inspired as was I from this Angel of God. So good was she that he called his angels to guide her to be in the promised land. Lastly thanks to all who given praise in this type of Forum she was truly the one in a billion. We will all miss her smile & her words of encouragement. Many have come but few are chosen as she.

She was an amazing woman. I did not know her personally but her daughter Patty is an amazing, kind and thoughtful person and I know that she received those traits from Her mom. May God keep you in his glory.
