Kimberly Jean Torrent, 50, of Vero Beach passed away June 14, 2018. She was born January 5, 1968 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She was raised in Florida by her mother and stepfather, Janet and Geoff Newcombe. Kim graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1986 and earned her AA degree from Indian River Community College. She worked at the Indian River County Sheriff’s office until Lupus made it unable for her to work. She bravely fought Lupus for many years while maintaining her positive attitude and loving spirit. Kim and her mother shared a love of art and she was an excellent watercolorist. She was an active member in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the local Lupus Support Group, and at one time volunteered with the Big Brother/Big Sister program receiving the honor of Big Sister of the year.

Kim is survived by her mother and stepfather, Janet and Geoff Newcombe, her father and stepmother, Frederick and Patricia Torrent; her siblings, John (Grace) Torrent, Leslie (Tom) Gallagher, Sara Newcombe, Scott Newcombe, Troy Bell, Margo Dodge, and Robin Dobrick; nieces Madison Torrent, Kennedy Torrent, Lauren Smith, Amanda Breen, and many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 23rd, 11:30 AM, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2555 58th Ave, Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Indian River County Humane Society, 6230 77th St. Vero Beach, FL 32967.

Jan & family, I am so deeply sorry to hear about Kim. Losing a daughter is a horrible tragedy that no one should have to ever go through. My heart is breaking for you, as I know your pain. I will be holding you all closely in my heart & prayers, for God to comfort you. Much love, Maralyn xoxo
