On May 22, 2024, Lewis Edward Whittington passed away at the age of 83, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Lewis was born in Richmond, Virginia and resided in Loris, South Carolina before moving to Okeechobee, Florida.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a missile specialist from January 1958 to February 1961. He also spent two years in the USAR.
Lewis was a marine diesel mechanic for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving daughter Lynn Lanz (Gary); grandchildren William Scott (Brooke), Shawn Scott (Kimberly), Megan Cook (Derrick), Hailey, Jaidyn; and great grandchildren.
Lewis was predeceased by his son Lewis Whittington Jr. who passed away in February of 2018.
Funeral arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

I heard my father, Jeff Whittington, speak of Lewis often as they kept in touch some. I was glad that his obituary was placed in our Horry county paper (SC). Daddy died in 2020 at 92 years of age but I believe Carl Whittington was Lewis’ father. Carl was my grandfather’s brother. My sympathy in your loss. Ann Whittington Caughman
