Lewis R. Gwyn, III died on October 22, 2026, at the age of 84. A native of Westchester County NY, he was a graduate of Hebron Academy in Maine, and The University of the South, Sewanee, TN., where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Lew worked in a variety of occupations, including Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY and as an entrepreneur in advertising and automotive services.
He was a veteran of two separate tours in the US Army and served in France as well as domestic postings. A lifelong Episcopalian, he was Ordained Deacon in the Church by Bishop John W. Howe of Central Florida in 2002, and served in local parishes, and as Chaplain for the Volunteer Ambulance Squad and other organizations.
Lew was predeceased by his son, Lewis R. Gwyn IV, and is survived by his wife Clare, daughter Priscilla Gage Gwyn, and son-in-law Mark Robert Bashaw of Oviedo, FL.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32968
Memorial gifts would be welcomed by the Salvation Army of Vero Beach or VNA Hospice.
