Lucy Sanacore, age 97, passed away January 16, 2019 at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

She was born in Bristol, Rhode Island. Lucy had been a resident of Floral Park, NY, for 30 years prior to living in Elmont, NY. She moved to Lake Worth, FL, for the last 18 years before coming to Vero Beach recently.

Lucy’s family had owned a grocery store, Tony’s Grocery & Fruit Market, on Bushwick Ave., Brooklyn, NY, from 1950 till 1963. She had worked as cashier at Keyfood, Floral Park and later as cashier and assistant bookkeeper at Finast until her retirement in 1982. Following her retirement, Lucy worked as a nanny till 2001, when she turned 80 years old.

Lucy was a volunteer for “We Care” and knitted baby hats for the local hospital while she lived at Covered Bridge, Lake Worth.

Survivors include her two daughters, Anita Palma of Boynton Beach, FL and Charlene (Neal) David of Vero Beach; granddaughter-in-law, Katy Palma; granddaughter, Cara David Wallace; grandson, Anthony Sanacore; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Carl (Giusi) DeLuca of Naples, FL.

Mrs. Sanacore was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Sanacore; her son, Anthony R. Sanacore; and grandsons, Anthony Palma, Michael Palma, Jeffrey Palma, Frankie Palma, Nicholas Sanacore and Anthony Messina.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 4th, 2019 at the David residence, Vero Beach.
