Martha Emily Warren, 76, of Vero Beach, FL and formerly of Seaford, DE passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 after a lengthy battle with kidney disease.

Emily was born in Athens, AL the daughter of Carlyle Richard and Martha Lucille (Christensen) Carter. She met her husband of 54 years, James O. Warren, in the Fall of 1960 while studying at Freed Hardeman College in Henderson, TN. She ultimately graduated from Athens College in Athens, AL with a degree in Art Studies; which was her lifelong passion.

Emily was gifted by God with talents in many areas of artistic expression. She worked with lead, charcoal, oils and paints. She was particularly fond of working with ceramics where she would freeform her own creations from a raw block of clay. Additionally, she spent many years learning the art of wood duck carving, having entered competitions in the Chesapeake Bay area in the 1990s. She loved working with her art and enjoyed the time she spent learning from and helping others with their skills.

She was an active member of the Vero Beach Church of Christ and was very proud of being part of the group that designed and painted the bible themed rooms for the Children’s Ministry.

Emily is predeceased by a newborn son, Matthew Richard Warren and her brother, William Ellis Carter.

She is survived by her husband James O. Warren; Son, Jeffrey Graham (Rebecca) Warren of Raleigh, NC, and daughter, Susan Carter (Michael) McGee. She has 4 incredible grandchildren of whom she is very proud: Lindsey, Paige McGee, Carson Reid Warren, Ty Garrett Warren, and Landon Carter Warren. She has two nephews: William Edward Carter and Hugh Joel Carter.

Emily and her family are very thankful to the anonymous donor, and their surviving family, whose gracious organ donation in August of 2005 enabled Emily to have a much needed kidney transplant. This allowed Emily to live a healthy life for an additional 12 years.

As a recognition of this gift, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in her name be made to: National Kidney Foundation of Florida, 1040 Woodcock Rd, Suite 119, Orlando, Florida 32803 or http://www.kidney.org/donate.
