Mildred Dewitt, 95, longtime resident of Spanish Lakes in Ft. Pierce, passed away quietly on September 24, 2015.

Mildred was born in East Rutherford, NJ to George John and Barbara Kleiner (nee Mathes). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Roland, her parents, her sister, Lillian Roehrs, her brother, John, and her niece Barbara Tintera. She is survived by great nephews John and Ryan Tintera, great niece, Ashlie Garb, and beloved cousins Krista Rahn and Sabrina Charette.

Mildred and Roland moved to Ft. Pierce from New Jersey 22 years ago. They were members of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Vero Beach. Mildred was active in community life there and at Spanish Lakes where she enjoyed playing pinochle, mahjong, going out to dinner with friends, and swimming year-round. Mildred enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips and cruises, and attending the theater and concerts. She was also skilled at crocheting. Local charities, as well as her three great-grand nephews, were among the lucky recipients of her blankets.

Mildred will be remembered mostly for her irrepressible, colorful spirit, her laugh, her wit, and ability to not take life too seriously.

A memorial service will be held at Living Lord Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 14 at 11:00 AM. The service will be followed by a light lunch in the church hall.
