Richard Ronald Anderson, Sr. age 92 of Vero Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Richard (known as Dick by close friends and family) was born in Newark, New Jersey to Arthur and Elizabeth Anderson. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He served with great honor in the United States Marine Corps and the New Jersey National Guard.
Dick had a distinguished Aerospace Industry career in engineering and design at Pratt and Whitney, West Palm Beach, FL, General Electric Company, Cincinnati, Ohio and General Dynamics, Ft. Worth, Texas. He also achieved his General Contractors license that allowed him to build a beautiful family home in Tequesta, FL. Dick used his expertise and knowledge to begin a career in Building Construction with Ray Tylander Homes and Burg and DiVosta Builders.
Dick had a passion for the game of golf. He played several times a week well into his 80’s and even shot his age at 81 years old.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Doris A.M. Anderson; sister, Barbara Hadden; son, Richard R. Anderson, Jr. (Theresa) and son, Brian A. Anderson; daughter, Cynthia A. Woodward; and grandsons, Jonathan, Blake, Spencer and Carson Woodward.
Dick’s wife of 67 years, Doris, and his children will always remember the time he made for his family and the importance of Integrity, Trust, and Compassion for others that he instilled in their lives. Dick will also be remembered for his quick wit and unconditional love and devotion for his family.
A memorial service for Dick will be held 11:30 on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach, FL. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Indian River Golf Foundation in Richard’s memory (490 34th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL. 32968).

We are just heartbroken to hear about Dicks death.Much as we would like to attend his service, I have been in the hospital for a week and just got home so sadly, it is impossible for us.
