Robert Carlton RC Timmons, of Vero Beach, passed away on November 21, 2014 at the VNA Hospice House.

He was born in Washington, DC, to Mabel Anthony and Arthur Timmons.

RC enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1965 and proudly served in Germany as crew chief. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Aircraft Crewman Badge, to name a few.

RC worked for the Fairfax County Fire Department, from 1969-1990, as a Lieutenant from the Public Information Office after many years working as a firefighter and Shift Lieutenant and then later for Kaiser Permanente, also of Fairfax, Virginia.

After his move to Vero Beach, RC enjoyed his work with Dr. Marc Liebermans office, which he did for 7 years.

RC was a kind and gentle individual with an amazing sense of humor. He was a devoted father and a great lover of animals, especially of his dogs, Dorphus, Dana & Roger; and many cats, including Chumlee and Tuffie.

RC had a golf handicap of 6 and played with a team at Sandridge Golf Club, Vero Beach.

RC could do just about anything he set his mind to. He could fix anything and it was always done “to code”. He could also always find anything that had been lost–earning him the nickname of “The Bloodhound”. We shall continue to invoke The Bloodhound even though he is no longer here with us!

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Suzanne McCandlish and Kathryn Butterfield Timmons; his brother, William Timmons; his 3 grandchildren, Maia McCandlish, Corinne McCandlish and Liam McCandlish; and close friends, Carolyn and Toby Robinson.

He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Timmons.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service 11 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach. To honor RCs life and devotion to the Army, a 21-gun salute will be held. A reception will follow in the church parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32968 or VNA of the Treasure Coast, 1110 35th Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
