Roberta “Bobbie” Wimsatt Donelson, 65, passed on March 18, 2026, at Sebastian, Florida. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 2, 1960, and relocated to the Orlando, Florida area and finally moved to Vero Beach/Sebastian Florida.
She retired from the School District of Indian River County, after 16 years of service after also teaching for over a decade in Osceola County. Despite her struggles in overcoming her own learning disabilities, Bobbie was named Teacher of the Year and became a county and state expert trainer in literacy. She was also co-author of a national guide to implementing system change in the schools, leading to national leadership and training with various school districts and entities across the nation.
She graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and was a member of the Indian River County Florida Retired Educators Association.
She is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill’ J. Donelson, III; sister; Patricia Jeanne Stansbury (husband John Nicholas Stansbury), niece, Jo Stansbury Johnson, niece, Jessica Allen Davis (husband Brian Davis), great-nephew, Tucker Joseph Davis, great-niece, Delaney Evan Davis. A sister, Mary Wimsatt Glick (husband Dann H. Glick), nephew, Tyler Matthews Glick (wife Iris Wilbur Glick) and great-nephew, George Seon Glick and niece, Jamie Collins Glick.
She is predeceased by her parents, George M. and Yvonne Ann Wimsatt.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at The Garden Club of Indian River County, 2025 17th Street, Vero Beach, Florida.

Bill, please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Bobbie. She was a very knowledgeable and sweet lady. I enjoyed working with you both in the IRCSD as a Student Support Specialist many years ago. I wish you comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Bobbie will forever be known for her feisty perseverance and the sunshine love she shared with everyone she met. Dave and I were blessed with many years of friendship with Bobbie and Bill. We will continue in remembering her as the adventurous spark that lives on in our hearts everyday.

Billy, the sadness I feel is nothing to the loss you must feel. Bobbie was such caring, accepting person with one heck of a joyful spirit! Our closeness became later in life as cancer buddies. Her faith and positivity meant so much to me and I will treasure that forever! God Bless you Billy.
