Thomas D. Grau, 76, of Sebastian, Florida passed away September 27th, 2018 at Indian River Hospital, Vero Beach, FL.

Services will be held at Saturday, October 6th, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 900 27th Ave, Vero Beach, FL with the Rev. Christopher Colman officiating.

Tom was born March 14th, 1942, in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Russell & Marjorie (Rembe) Grau. He was raised in Sioux City, IA and graduated from East High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Tom became a Mechanical Engineer.

Tom was united in marriage to Linda Inlay in 1961 and she died in 1975. He was united in marriage to Theo (Susie) Tompkins in 1978 in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Tom was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer & served as President, Head Elder, Head Trustee & had a singing ministry that blessed so many. Before retiring he worked for Coors Brewery in Colorado & for 39 years he worked for McCracken/Int’lPipe Machinery Corp/Besser Int’l in Sioux City, IA & San Antonio, TX. Between these companies Tom invented seven patents for them. He also was an Eagle Scout.

Tom will be remembered for his wonderful voice, his love for singing, doing stain glass, woodworking, camping, big hugs & kisses, and loving his family & friends.

Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susie, of Sebastian, FL. Sons Douglas Grau of Vero Beach, FL, Eric (Georgi) Grau, of Sioux City, IA., Matthew (Laurie) Grau of Stillwater, MN., David Tompkins (Jill) of Lawrenceville, GA., & daughter Rachelle Tompkins-Campbell (Vick) of Vero Beach, FL. Mother-in-law, Betty Meisner of Vero Beach, FL. Sister Connie Eriksen of Sioux City, IA & brother Scott Grau of Lincoln, NE., 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews and many close friends & neighbors.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and Wilferd Meisner, father-in-law.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Stroke of Hope Club, 6171 Island Harbor Road, Sebastian, FL 32958, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, or a charity of your choice in remembrance of Tom.
